Understanding Parent-Child Linked Lots in Our AuctionsAugust 05, 2024
By leveraging the Parent-Child Linked Lots feature, you can strategically plan your bids and ensure that you have the opportunity to consider all related items before the close of bidding.

In our auctions, we now offer a feature known as "Parent-Child Linked Lots" that enhances the bidding experience by linking related lots, ensuring that if you win a Parent Lot, you have the opportunity to bid on any associated Child Lots. Here’s how it works:

Parent Lots

  • Parent Lots are groups of related items that are linked together in the bidding process.
  • Example: Consider several similar combines up for auction. These are grouped as Parent Lots.
  • Bidding Dynamics: When you bid on an item within a Parent Lot, the system ensures that all items within this group remain open for bidding. The auction for these combines only ends when there are no new bids on any item in the group for a specified period.

Child Lots

  • Child Lots are individual items linked to a Parent Lot.
  • Example: Using the same combines, the combine headers would be considered Child Lots.
  • Bidding Timeline: Bidding for Child Lots starts only after the auction for the Parent Lots has completely closed.

Why This Matters:

  • This linkage prevents premature closing of related lots, giving bidders a fair chance to bid on all associated items.
  • Organized Auction Experience: It ensures a more logical and systematic bidding process for items that are commonly used together.

To identify linked lots, look for the chain link icon on the lot details. Hover your mouse over the chain link symbol to discover which lots are tied together. This icon signifies that each linked lot will stay open until there are no more bids on any of the linked lots.
