North Dakota Farmland Auction to Offer 4,398 Acres Across Four Counties

WEST FARGO, North Dakota, January 31, 2026 — Steffes Group has announced the upcoming Edson & Margaret Larson Foundation Land Auction, featuring approximately 4,398 acres of North Dakota farmland across Steele, Traill, Wells, and Barnes Counties. The land will be offered through three timed, online-only auction events on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The offering includes approximately 3,089 acres in Steele and Traill Counties, located north of Mayville, west of Hatton, and near Clifford. These tracts feature large, contiguous parcels with productive soils. The Wells County property includes approximately 750 acres of cropland with pasture and recreational appeal. The Barnes County offering totals approximately 559 acres north of Valley City and includes established wind tower income from seven towers.

The land is owned by the Edson & Margaret Larson Foundation, a charitable organization that provides educational scholarships to students throughout the region. The public auction format offers a transparent opportunity for farmers and investors to acquire North Dakota farmland at scale.

“Quality farmland continues to be in strong demand, particularly well-located land offered at scale,” said Max Steffes, Director of Sales and licensed real estate broker with Steffes Group. “This auction offers flexibility for bidders seeking individual tracts or a larger landholding.”

Informational meetings will be held in Carrington on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and in Portland on Tuesday, March 3. An optional, in-person bidding assistance and contract signing event will be available in Fargo on auction day, Tuesday, March 10.
