Happy National Auctioneers Week!

National Auctioneers Week is May 2-7, 2022. Annually, National Auctioneers Week is the week leading up to the first Saturday in May, which is National Auctioneers Day.

Auctioneering is one of history’s oldest professions but began to make great strides after World War II. At this time, the sale of goods and real estate was booming, and the modern-day auction method was born.

We take this time to recognize and show our appreciation to our Steffes Group auctioneers that you will often see behind the microphone!

Bob Steffes, Founder

Bob founded Steffes Auctioneers (now Steffes Group) in 1960 and has been instrumental in the success of Steffes Group today. He attended the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA in December 1959 and began his auction career selling feeder cattle at the Union Stockyards. He is a past recipient of the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship and North Dakota Auctioneer Championship. Bob has served as the president of the NAA and North Dakota Auctioneers Association and in 1999 Bob was inducted into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.

Plus, it was way better than sitting on a tractor and I didn’t have to get dirty.”
