Growing up watching his dad farm, Doug Wallerman vowed he was never going to be a “BLEEP” farmer.
“Never in my wildest dreams because I loved sports. But when I was 13, my dad slipped and fell and tore his shoulder. And who do you think got started milking the cows?” said Wallerman with a laugh.
Since then, farming has seeped into Wallerman’s veins, where the love for farming strengthened over time. Helping with farming operations are his beautiful wife Amanda and their two kids, Charlie (12-years-old) and Mady (11-years-old).
For many years, Wallerman’s parents had every fourth grader from Monroe County visiting their farm for roughly ten or more years in the 1980s and early 1990s; they even hosted all of the teachers!
“I was never a tractor guy. I love driving a tractor on a beautiful spring day or cutting hay or whatever it is. I love doing that as much as the next guy. And that's why I say it's okay that I'm selling the farm because I'm not a good crop farmer anyhow,” said Wallerman.
For nearly 100 years, the Wallerman Family has been farming in Monroe County, and they have made an incredible impact on their community. Still, now it’s time for someone else to get the opportunity to take over the operation. Steffes Group is honored to work with the Wallerman Family for four different auctions spanning three weeks, including real estate, cattle, equipment, and forage.
