Our biggest auction of the year will open to bidders on Monday, December 28. The auction will include high-quality cropland in Winneshiek County Iowa and Filmore County Minnesota with a total of 1,630 acres of agricultural land in 27 tracts, ranging from 25 to 140 acres each. Approximately 1,360 acres of the land are tillable, with the rest containing two homes and modern cattle facilities.
“It really doesn’t get better than this for land, some of which has corn suitability ratings of 85 and even 93. Land of this quality -- especially in this quantity -- rarely goes on the market so we expect a lot of interest among farmers and investors alike,” said Steffes Representative Nate Larson. “We’re also selling grain storage and dryer for 340,000 bushels.”
Buildings in this auction include an 80’ by 104’ heated shop which was built in 2013, with concrete floors, three overhead doors, an office and bathroom. Other facilities include a 100’ by 210’ cattle shed built in 2010, 34’ by 128’ hay shed, a 32’ by 96’ barn, a 24’ by 54’ barn, silage bunkers, concrete pit, and 12’ by 20’ utility building.
The auction will begin at 1:00 PM. on Tract 3, located at 3553 North Winn Road in Decorah, Iowa. Online bidding will also be available.
“It’s remarkable that we’re closing out the year with one of our biggest and best farmland auctions. This is also the time when farmers and investors are evaluating expansion opportunities, so it will be perfect for them,” said Larson.
